My Experience in Residential & Commercial Design
With an Associate Degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design (CADD) from Texas State Technical College, I have spent more than 30 years helping clients transform ideas into thoughtfully designed spaces. My career began working for a local architect, where I gained valuable experience in architectural drafting, residential planning, and construction documentation. I graduated in 1996 and worked for a local architect. From 1999 to 2009 I was a partner in my family’s business, Root Homes and Root Construction, before launching Christy Root Designs.
Residential Home Design Experience
At Root Homes, I worked directly with homeowners to create custom home plans for projects ranging from $70,000 to over $2 million. This hands-on experience taught me how to balance aesthetics, functionality, and budget while designing homes that reflect each family’s lifestyle. Commercial Design & Planning Experience
My experience with Root Construction expanded beyond residential projects into commercial design and planning. I worked on projects ranging from interior build-outs to full-scale commercial developments, including site layouts, parking lot design, floor plans, building elevations, and conceptual planning. This background gives me a unique understanding of how great design and practical construction work together.
